Estate Administration/Probate

What Is Estate Administration?
When an estate proceeding for a deceased person is opened, a personal representative (called an executor if named in a will) is appointed to pay debts, distribute the remaining property to the estate’s beneficiaries, and otherwise follow the law and instructions of the will, if there is one.  The personal representative must follow numerous rules and deadlines during the estate process, including filing documents at the county Clerk of Superior Court’s office.  The personal representative also must manage the estate’s assets correctly.
